Syllabic writing

The problem of ancient forms of writing was the gap between the oral and the written language. That is why all ancient forms of writing invented by people were useless and couldn't satisfy all needs. That is why they had to develop something else. And one of the steps to get the oral and the written languages closer was the syllabic writing. The most famous kinds of syllabic writing are the cuneiform (Ancient Persian, Akkadian and other systems that come from Sumerian writing), Semitic (Arabic, Phoenician and other systems that come from Egyptian hieroglyphs) and Japanese syllabic system. The Phoenician writing played an important role in the history of humanity. It was the base of the Greek writing from which the Roman alphabet and the Cyrillic alphabet come and therefore the majority of modern written languages.

From the name of this kind of writing it is possible to guess that the essence of this writing consisted in fixing the notion with the help of syllables. But still this was not enough for the development of the written language that would be able to satisfy the needs of people.

That is why people developed the alphabets and the first one belonged to Greeks that were the first to notice that the sounds of the words must be transmitted somehow in writing. And thanks to this idea we have the alphabets and modern letters.

One of the greatest inventions of humanity was the invention of language. The oral language allowed people to communicate with each other changing their thoughts, emotions, impressions, news, etc.

There are so many objects people used for writing in ancient times. They used everything from branches and land to papyrus. They were using coal and paint invented from the natural resources of our planet until humanity managed to invent ink that is used till nowadays.

Pictography was the second stage of written language development after writing with the help of objects and things. This method is based on the images or pictograms.
