Runes mysteries

The rune alphabet was developing in two directions that were the magical signs and rune writing. The signs that were used before runes were found in many caves of the epoch of the Bronze Age. First they were found on the territory of Sweden. Some of these symbols have the analogies in the late alphabet while others mean the conceptions that were determined by runes later. The exact purpose of these signs are known to us nowadays however there is data according to which they were used to tell fortunes and probably had the similar purposes with the late magical runes.

When the northern settlements started to change the Italian alphabet into some kind of writing system they gave the names to letters that corresponded to all aspects of every-day life and religious life that led to the transformation of pictograms into the magical alphabet that could be used for telling fortunes and making the magical amulets.

The word "futhark" (the name of the alphabet of runes) comes from the first letters in the runes order that differed a lot from the order of the Latin alphabet and is the unique alphabet by its essence.

First it consisted of 24 signs starting with the letter F and ending with the letter O and was used by the northern Germanic tribes of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Northern Germany. That is why this alphabet is called Early or Germanic.
